A message to every mother who has ever fallen through the cracks.
There’s a conversation no one is having loudly enough. It’s about the mother who wakes up at 5am, gets her kids ready, drives to a job she’s grateful for — and still comes home emotionally depleted in a way that sleep simply doesn’t fix.
She earns too much for food stamps. Too much for childcare subsidies. Too much for government assistance of any kind. But she earns too little to pay $2,000 a month for daycare. Too little to afford therapy at $200 a session. Too little to hire someone to help around the house when she’s running on empty.
She falls through the cracks. And nobody seems to notice — because on paper, she looks fine.
I know this mother. In many ways, I am this mother. And that is exactly why I built Empower Her Village.
In America, we tend to frame support for mothers in two ways: those who qualify for government assistance, and those who are ‘doing fine.’ But there is an enormous middle — millions of women who work hard, pay taxes, and still cannot access the basic support they need to raise healthy families without burning out completely.
Increase in childcare costs since 1990 — now exceeding rent in most major U.S. cities
Mothers experience postpartum depression or anxiety, yet most never receive treatment due to cost
Middle-income earners largely ineligible for federal childcare subsidies, yet unable to absorb market costs
These aren’t statistics about struggling families in the abstract. These are statistics about your neighbor, your coworker, your sister.
Empower Her Village is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit built specifically for this overlooked middle. We provide real, dignified support — not charity in the condescending sense, but practical tools that give mothers room to breathe.
Through our EHV Voucher & Prepaid Card Program, verified mothers receive direct access to four pillars of support:
We are not a one-size-fits-all program. Every mother who comes to us goes through a thoughtful intake process so we can connect her with the support that matches her actual situation — whether that’s emergency childcare coverage, a series of therapy sessions, or a combination of resources tailored to where she is right now.
Prepaid cards and service vouchers for vetted childcare providers and nanny services.
Therapy session vouchers through vetted providers — because burnout is a health crisis.
Cleaning and household assistance so mothers can rest — not just survive the week.
One-on-one guidance to build lasting stability, not just get through the month.
March 2026 marks our official public launch, and I won’t pretend I’m not emotional about it. This organization started as a question I couldn’t stop asking: Why is there no village for women like us? It grew into a nonprofit, a board, a website, a program — and now, a community.
To every mother who has ever felt too proud to ask for help, too ‘middle class’ to qualify, or too exhausted to figure out where to start — this was built for you. You don’t have to prove you’re struggling enough. Just show up, and we will meet you there.
Whether you need support, want to give back, or believe mothers deserve better — there is a place for you here.
